Extractions is a development of the Windows practice. Where Windows examined the city's architectural facades through a singular obsessive lens, Extractions turns inward; isolating objects from their environments entirely. By removing the background and flattening the subject, each image takes on the quality of a museum specimen or scientific illustration. The mundane rendered beautiful, the everyday made of potential.
